THE BEGINNING:
Rajan Ipe is a native of Kerala, India and comes from a prominent Syrian Christian family. His father wanted Rajan to become a doctor and continue the medical practice his father had established, but Rajan studied Hotel Management and pursued that career during which time, in India, he met Mrs. Joanie Grimm from Decatur, Georgia.
David and Joanie Grimm opened their home to Rajan and he came to live with them in Decatur, Ga. in 1974 on a student visa. They shared Biblical Christianity with him and led him to accept Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and Lord. Rajan was immersed into the body of Christ at Mt. Carmel Christian Church, for the remission of his sins.
He still desired to study Hotel Management at Georgia State University, but the Lord’s plan was to send him back to his people as a servant of God. Joanie took Rajan on a short term mission trip to Jamaica, where Rajan shared the gospel with a Jamaican young man and after two long weeks of talking to this man, witnessed the young Veterinarian’s baptism in the Caribbean Sea. Standing on the shore, Rajan said, “Lord if I can do this in a foreign country, speaking a foreign language I will be able to do a much better job with my own people, in my own country.” That was a turning point in Rajan’s life.
He decided to return to India. Rajan holds a Degree in Science from Kerala University. While in the States, he had Biblical training at Atlanta Christian College now Point University and received a Master’s of Religious Education from Cincinnati Christian University in Ohio.
He returned to India in 1977 and married Reni Jacob. Reni is a graduate of Bangalore University and is a trained Teacher. Rajan and Reni began Kerala Christian Mission in Rajan’s home town, Kottayam, India in 1977. (His Jerusalem)
